A Brief History of Wireless

In the previous years, we have been in presence of the most rapid and effective technological revolutions, where electronic devices each year became more and more advanced, more and more especial. One of those innovations was wireless devices, which reduced the horrible inconveniences of having cables entangling themselves and creating disorder in our pleasant homes. Yet many of us do not know who or how where these objects created, nor what was the reason for their creation.

Initially, it is relevant to portray how in the 17 and 18 hundred many physical and chemical discovering s proliferated, leading to a greater understanding of the circuits, and sensors, therefore allowing future people to interpret them and even combine them to produce a technical miracle. For instance, British scientist Michael Faraday discovered electromagnetic induction and predicted the existence of electromagnetic waves, allowing us to investigate more the topic of these invisible waves which could allow us to transmit signals. Some years later, Thomas Edison patented a system of wireless communication by electrostatic induction, this helped to understand how to control the wavelengths and frequencies to transmit diverse signals correctly. Almost at the same time other improvements were made, Heaviside introduced impedance as the ratio of voltage over current and Hertz started his work to demonstrate the existence of radio waves and published his results in 1888; this helped the mathematical calculations in other to produce ideal results. Next, in 1887 English physicist Oliver Joseph Lodge discovered Sympathetic Resonance (standing waves) in wires, which were really important, as it allowed the waves to be received and interpreted by certain objects, as this phenomenon generates diverse vibrations reactions depending on the different waves. Consequently, many relations regarding the distance of the waves and time were brought by scientists such as Tesla, and Ernst lecher, experimenting each time more and more, to receive encrypted messages and proving the distance they were able to travel.

In just a matter of 10 years from the start of this experimentations, the first international message was already sent from England to France. Each time improving and polishing these theorems, the inventors were able to produce transatlantic Tv channels, and radio programs. Jumping some years in 1971 AT&T Bell Labs k began the production of mobile phones with cells, allowing that each time they were more and more improved, with no need on being static at home, but capable of being with you wherever you went, leading to the smartphones we have today and are so relevant to our society. Going back for a bit, we can see how some years later already with some mobile phones in the market, Bluetooth technology was incorporated, in 1989, although it was not put to use immediately, it was a great invention that will allow the devices to be interconnected. In this way, some years later this technology was improved and became more accessible for people, in this way now it was able to connect mostly to special speakers. Later it became more widely used, for instance in 2000 it was able to connect printers and various computers, so you didn’t have to move from your sit in order to perform printing. In a matter of fewer than 10 years, it was already combined with the new tablets and smartphones, connecting itself to more than 100 technologies, even fridges where possible to be connected.

In consequence, and with the great investments, the basis of this interconnection was used to develop a wide variety of objects, such as wireless headphones, and furtherly the popular EarPods. Also, it was able to connect to unexpected objects such as your home, or cameras of vigilance, so you could control your home wherever you go (still being a bit expensive to incorporate these devices). This shows us how wireless has evolved dramatically, not even letting us breathe leaving us with innovations every month. It is relevant to portray how it not only allowed the creation of diverse devices but also how those are basic needs now in our society and have constructed the functions of our world, interconnecting countries, and people, emotions, and even love.
